Jeremy Ioane Obituary, Death – Boise State Football Mourns Former Safety and Fiesta Bowl Champion
The Boise State Broncos football community is mourning the loss of former safety Jeremy Ioane, who passed away this week. A beloved teammate and resilient athlete, Ioane leaves behind a legacy defined by determination, strength, and inspiration both on and off the field.
Ioane, a native of Honolulu, Hawaii, played for Boise State from 2010 to 2014 and was a key contributor to one of the program’s most successful eras. He helped lead the Broncos to four bowl victories, including the historic win in the 2014 Fiesta Bowl, cementing his place in team history.
After redshirting in 2010, Ioane quickly rose through the ranks, earning All-Mountain West Honorable Mention in 2012 and Second Team honors in 2013. He was also recognized as a preseason candidate for the prestigious Jim Thorpe Award in 2014. Over his collegiate career, he appeared in 41 games, starting 29, and recorded 146 tackles and five interceptions.
Despite battling kidney disease during his playing days, Ioane demonstrated remarkable resilience. He underwent dialysis treatments throughout his senior season, continuing to contribute to the team whenever possible.
